Why choose continuous guttering over traditional stick-length guttering?
Continuous guttering saves time and money resulting in a long-lasting, more rust-resistant rainwater management system. Continuous guttering is roll formed and cut to measure onsite, in one continuous piece. There is no wastage, which means you only pay for what you need. There are no joins and the gutter spans from one roof corner to the other. This means there is much less chance for rusting or corrosion, resulting in a gutter that will last longer and save money over time.
Continuous guttering is available in either aluminium or steel. Alcoil’s aluminium will not rust and comes with a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty. In the case of steel, Alcoil uses .55 gauge steel, which is 31% thicker than stick length steel, further adding to its strength and durability. It comes with a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty.
Finally, both aluminium and the steel continuous guttering offer aesthetic benefits, producing a smooth, sleek line uninterrupted by bulky joins.
Traditional stick length guttering, however, is made from a weaker .42 gauge steel. It comes in shorter 6 metre pieces and requires cutting and joining which results in wasted off-cuts and wasted money. Traditional guttering is also a time-consuming installation process – it requires the installer to make numerous cuts, and fit multiple joins, which results in lost time and, consequently, a further loss of money. The finished product also appears cumbersome and every join is a target for water leaks and corrosion.
For a fast, efficient and better quality system, continuous guttering is the clear choice.

I only need a section of my gutter replaced. Do you repair gutters?
No. We only replace or extend guttering systems. In our experience, when a guttering system displays problems in one area, it won’t be long before another section – and then another – also needs to be replaced. In order to deliver a quality result that will go the distance, we may recommend taking down the old gutter and replace it. The one exception to this rule is extensions, where an existing, healthy guttering system may need to be matched and extended as a result of home renovations.
-
Do your gutters come with guarantees?
Yes. Our aluminium guttering comes with a 25-year manufacturer’s warranty, and our .55 gauge steel guttering comes with a 20-year manufacturer’s warranty. The installation work performed by our qualified plumbers is also guaranteed, with certificates issued by the Plumbing Industry Commission.

-
Can we replace roof tiles with Colorbond?
Yes, as colorbond is a lighter roof than tiles it unloads the house frame. It does however require battening to support roof sheet at the correct batten spacing.
-
Can I improve insulation levels?
Yes, during roofsheeting we can lay down fibre glass building blanket to give better overall thermal performance.
-
Can I use corrugated roofing at a low pitch ( less than 5 degrees)?
No. Anything less than 5 degrees needs a different type of roof sheet. The absolute minimum fall would be 1 degree which would require a decking roof with concealed fixing.
-
Do I have to have joins in the roof sheet?
Generally not. Wherever possible we will provide full roofsheet to prevent corrosion at the overlap
-
What colours can I get for my roof sheet?
Full Colorbond range is available as well as zincalume and galvanised.
-
What is the warranty on roof sheet?
Generally 25 years but it is subject to BlueScope’s approval which may be influenced by proximity to marine or industrial environments.
-
Can my builder fit new roof sheet?
No. All metal roofing must be carried out by a licensed plumber and a compliance certificate issued.
-
Do I need to move out while the reroofing takes place?
No. We work carefully to replace sections at a time and will provide temporary weather protection to make sure no leaks occur.
-
Do you dispose of the old roofing?
Yes. We recycle old metal roofing and some tiles. What is not recyclable is taken to the tip.
